Independent investigations, policy and training in professional conduct

Professional Insight is a New Zealand team of lawyers and licensed investigators with extensive experience in managing and investigating professional misconduct. We work with regulators, school boards and other organisations across education, health and social services, and we teach professionals how to keep their own practice safe.

  • Nursing Council

  • Social Workers Registration Board
  • Real Estate Authority

What we do

The same team carries out our investigations, policy work and teaching, so the advice we give and the courses we run are informed by real cases.

Independent investigations

We carry out workplace and professional conduct investigations for regulators, school boards and other organisations. Our investigators are enrolled barristers and solicitors who hold Private Investigator licences, and we are particularly experienced in working with teachers and school boards.

About our investigations

Policies and procedures

We have worked with a number of New Zealand regulators and other organisations on their policies and procedures. We can review what you already have, or help you develop procedures that are clear and workable in practice.

Courses

Our courses use real New Zealand cases to show how professional conduct issues arise and how to handle them well. We teach online and in person, for teachers, for investigators and for members of professional conduct committees.

Professional Boundaries, our online course for teachers

Professional Boundaries helps teachers understand where the boundaries in their relationships with students lie, why breaches happen, and what to do if they have a concern about themselves or a colleague. It uses New Zealand scenarios throughout.

Teachers can enrol themselves, or a school can enrol its staff and follow their progress. We also run the course in person for staff groups.
